Hero Peekskill DPW Employee Honored By Police

Peekskill Police Department gave "a big shout out" this week to Shawn Dasecke, a city Department of Public Works employee who was honored at the Common Council meeting. Dasecke observed a male sitting in a car who appeared to be in distress.

Acting immediately, Dasecke realized the man was choking, removed him from the vehicle and performed the Heimlich Manuever. 

"These actions saved a life and to that we are extremely proud, as I'm sure is his father, Gary Dasecke, a retired Peekskill PD Lieutenant," the Police Department wrote in a Facebook post:  "Great job Shawn!!"
